Welcome to the Child, Adolescent and Parent Mental Health Group

We aim to challenge narratives in how mental health is measured and understood in children, young people and parents/carers.

We take a developmental approach and aim to bridge the gap between developmental science theory and application in real-world prevention of future mental health problems.

We focus on bio-psycho-social mechanisms, family systems and real-world settings in schools, communities, homes and mental health support services.

Strengths of the group include epidemiological expertise and access to large longitudinal cohorts internationally with intergenerational mental health and development data, innovation in observational methods to capture family dynamics (wearable cams, AI and video-based), co-design and nested qualitative work.
